    ThinkFree Docs is an online community for publishers who want to share a variety of documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

  2. What kinds of documents can I publish on ThinkFree Docs?
    Microsoft office compatible formats can be published and converted into HTML format

    1. - word documents; doc, dot
    2. - excel spreadsheets; xls, xlt
    3. - powerpoint presentations; ppt, pot
    4. - text documents txt, rtf
    5. - other documents pdf, hwp


  3. Why does ThinkFree Docs support preview of only office compatible documents?
    The ThinkFree HTML conversion module is currently optimized for office compatible documents. Supporting a flash preview of other formats is under consideration.

  1. Do I need to sign-up for a ThinkFree Docs account to publish a document on Docs?
    Yes, there are two reasons for requiring that you sign-up

    1. Removing anonymity will aid in preventing the distribution of copyrighted documents.
    2. Registered users will be given access to the ThinkFree Online office service at http//www.thinkfree.com


  2. Can I edit my documents on ThinkFree Docs?
    Currently, you cannot edit your documents directly on ThinkFree Docs. However, we expect to support a 'copy to my office' feature soon. This function will allow you to copy and edit documents from ThinkFree Docs.

  3. What is ThinkFree Online?
    ThinkFree Online is free MS Office compatible online productivity suite. You can create and save MS Office documents to online storage (free 1GB online storage). Collaboration with other ThinkFree Online users on documents is also possible. You can use the ThinkFree Online account to access ThinkFree Docs.

  4. Can I copy published documents on ThinkFree Docs to ThinkFree Online?
    A 'copy to my office' feature will be available soon. This feature will allow you to copy documents to your ThinkFree Online account. You will then have access to the usual ThinkFree Online document functions (e.g., view, edit, save etc).

What you can do

  1. What options do I have after publishing documents on ThinkFree Docs?
    After you publish a document on ThinkFree Docs you will receive two types of HTML code

    1. A document URL that you can use as an unique URL for the uploaded document.
    2. Embedded HTML code that you can use to embed documents into an HTML page.


  2. Is there any other way to publish documents on ThinkFree Docs other than uploading directly onto Docs?
    Currently, ThinkFree Online supports a 'post to ThinkFree Docs' function. Using this function, you can post documents located on ThinkFree Online to ThinkFree Docs. We will soon provide an API that supports publishing documents from your desktop or your webpage.

Copyright

  1. I do not want others to download my published documents on ThinkFree Docs. Is there any way to restrict users to viewing my documents only?
    When publishing a document, you can select the copyright level. When you select 'None', the download feature does not appear for that document. If you choose another copyright option, the 'Creative Commons' copyright is applied to the document.

  2. What is Creative Commons?
    Creative Commons provides a set of free licenses that allow authors, scientists, artists, and educators to mark their creative work with certain freedoms. For example, you can use Creative Commons to change your copyright terms from "All Rights Reserved" to "Some Rights Reserved.".
